- Must be 18 years of age.
- Provide proof of identity, ideally with a photo.
- Trainees under the age of 18, can undertake training on a logbook scheme, but will not be eligible for a licence assessment test until they attain the age of 18.
- Must be able to read and understand English.
- 40 nominal hours of supervised forklift operation recorded in a log book.
- Persons living outside Australia are not eligible for assessment under this scheme.
- Persons living outside Queensland will not be licenced under this Scheme until a date to be determined in the future.
- When a student has successfully completed their full licencing assessment with IWDTC they will be issued with 2 copies of the Licence to Perform High Risk Work (LHRW) Assessment Summary. One copy for the licence application and the other the copy represents an interim authority to operate a forklift for 14 Days.
- IWDTC will provide every successful student with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment within 14 Days of assessment.
- Students will be required to lodge their licence applications at any participating Australia Post Office in Queensland.
Theory assessment facts
- The assessment is made up of 97 questions
- It is a closed book assessment
- All answers require a written response in English
- The maximum allowable time is 2 hours
- A 100% pass mark is required for competency.
Practical Assessment Facts:
- The student must conduct a detailed pre operation check
- Identify hazards within the work area
- Plan work
- Shift a series of loads by racking or stacking to the National Load Shifting Standard
- Negotiate obstacles and chicanes
- Demonstrate good safe operations at all times
- Correct parking and security procedures
- A 100% pass mark is required for competency.

| Who is this course for? |

| This course is designed for people who have valid evidence in operating a forklift. To qualify for this course you ‘must’ be able to provide proof of your experience, through a letter or letters from current or previous employer(s), a training plan and a log book. |

| If you do not have a training plan and 40 hour log book but can go away to your workplace and accur the hours (and/or get a letter from your employer), then you are also eligible for this course. NB: Employers must put a training plan in place before a Log Book, please call IWDTC if you need further information. |

| NB: A period not longer than 90 days is allowable from the formal training to the licence assessment. |
| What happens when I finish the course? At the completion of the course you will receive a Statement of Attainment and an Assessment Summary Form (AS1).You will still need to lodge your assessment documentation with Australia Post, pay a licence fee of $70.10 to allow the issuance of your five year photo ID licence. This fee is not included in the above prices. |
| Facilities: we provide tea, coffee, milk, sugar. There are shops nearby for lunch breaks. We have a fridge onsite that you are welcome to put food and drinks in. Student parking is available onsite. |
